MY ART of LIFE
"To be yourself in a world that is trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment."
Ralph Waldo Emerson
With a deep sense of living my inner life to the full, and the university of life being our greatest teacher, my longtime motto
'Do what makes your heart and soul sing (and dance)'
has anchored me into an enduring flow of seeking out, exploring and aligning with all that means the most to me, no matter how rocky the external world may appear.
I have a fascination for creating from a blank space and working with what comes up. There’s no pre-drawing or measuring in any of my work, it is about observation: seeing what is really there, not what you ‘think’ is there and translating that. As in life, no failures, just trusting the eb and flow of information and energy that comes through all the senses, and going with it, whether I'm painting, mosaicing or making copper jewellery.
I frequently paint with my fingers, especially in my abstract works and life paintings, where colour and energy spark my soul and the textures and tactile elements of feeling the paint and surfaces, are part of the whole.
The physicality of my art comes from a lifetime of expressive movement and a natural affinity with the figurative and the people, places, and experiences I have a connection with.
...You don't need to know about any of this... you'll feel and know if you enjoy my work! And I appreciate that - thank you for being here.
